Social Media 101 for Small Businesses – Part One
By Lee Brinckley - Web Marketing Director
Recently, I spoke at the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce “Knowledge at Noon” on the subject of using social media for business (Social Media 101). It was the highest attendance for the chamber event with over 50 attendees. I made several new connections and met some wonderful people.
During the course of the speech, the attendees learned the following about social media:
- What is social media?
- Social media “lingo”
- Myths about social media
- Why businesses should engage in social media
- Which social media platform(s) to use
Throughout the presentation I provided real-life examples of corporations to small businesses using social media effectively. Included in those examples were The Home Depot and Johnnie’s Meat Market.
Below is part one of six videos of the presentation. If you have any questions about social media and using it as a marketing tool for your business, please contact me at lee@ncpr.com or 309.736.1071. Social media marketing is expected to grow exponentially in 2010. Now is the time to understand and jump on the bandwagon.
